The famous pretend watches maker Van Cleef & Arpels is famous for the creation of watches with pretty looking and artistic elegance. For those people who know well about this brand they can always expect some beautiful artistic watch creations from this watch company every year at SIHH. Not that any of the watch models are approachable to the lay person. For examples these watches are all made in platinum. They are highly polished for visual appreciation. Of the 2010's new watch collections from Van Cleef & Arpels is the Midnight Extraordinary Series. I have no idea exactly how pieces there are. However, here are three models from the main California Landscapes collection, and two below from the collection of the Midnight Extraordinary Japanese Lacquer series. I am most interested in the California Landscapes serial watch collection, perhaps this is because I live in California. It is true that not all the scenes are at night (in contrast tot he "midnight" part of the name),however each are intriguing feats of talent. Rather than just enamel on dial paintings, the landscapes are crafted with some enamel work, but also a mosaic of jewels and stones. I don't have the ability to indicate what stones have been adopted (that would be like being able to reserve engineer floats in the Rose Parade) however here are each landscape portrayed in the series (only three of them or shown here). We have the natural views of Big Spring,Apache Terraces,Turquoise Canyon,Granite Peak and White Creek, all places in California a few of which I have never heard about. What's more,I can figure out the look of the land as I have been through some of it. The watch cases are all made in 42mm wide platinum. Undoubtedly,I know all of them are very heavy and expensive. Inside the watch models are Van Cleef & Arpels Caliber 800P automatic movements. There is extra art work on the rear of the models that is engraved. The straps are crafted with the black alligator. The collection is in a limited edition of 8 pieces per scene. You then have the thematically similar Midnight Extraordinary Japanese Lacquer Series watches. Also in limited editions of 8 pieces per version, these continue to the "midnight" dark tones with classic Japanese scene imagery. I do believe that the reason the collection is named as "Midnight" is due to most Van Cleef & Arpels watch pieces that I have seen display vivid bright colors mostly feminine. These models are most masculine in demeanor. The Japanese Lacquer models also have five versions. The two pictured ones have substantial variety of mocha browns and other tones common in traditional Japanese art work. Van Cleef & Arpels employed five works from master artist Hakose San. Each truly revisioned for use on a watch dial. These watches also come with 42mm wide platinum cases and contain automatic Caliber 800P movements. Each of the models in the Midnight Extraordinary serial watch pieces,in fact, aren't the easiest to read with regarding to the reading of the time, however, these creations are really masterpieces of art since all of them represent the dials and show off the time in more of a secondary manner. I'll try my best to get more pictures of these beautiful pieces soon.
